Metro: reliable starting point, not always door to door
Lisbon Airport says its Metro station connects toward the city and the wider network. The Red line is useful for Oriente, Saldanha and interchanges to other lines. For Baixa, Chiado, Alfama or another central area, map the change and the final walk before choosing. A property described as “near the metro” can still involve stairs, paving or a slope after you exit.
Lisbon Metro accepts valid electronic tickets and also describes contactless payment on its network. Rules and prices can change, so use the current official travel page when deciding what to buy.
Bus: check the luggage rule
The airport lists Carris city buses near arrivals and states a maximum luggage size for those urban routes. That makes the bus a poor assumption for every arriving traveler. Check your bag against the current rule, confirm the route and make sure the stop is practical for your address.
Taxi or app-based ride: useful when the last kilometer is difficult
Official airport guidance says licensed taxis queue outside the terminal and identifies a designated pickup area for app-based rides. Use the proper rank or official app process, confirm that the meter or quoted fare is handled correctly, and request a receipt. A car can reduce the physical effort of an uphill final walk, but road traffic still affects the journey.
