TOKYO PLANNING GUIDE

Tokyo attractions that fit the right neighborhood

Choose by experience and rail geography. A Skytree visit belongs naturally with Asakusa, while Shibuya Sky, teamLab Borderless and Ueno each work better as anchors for their own part of the city.

START WITH THE EXPERIENCE

Choose the experience before the observation deck

Tokyo is too large for attraction names alone to determine a sensible order. Choose an east, west or central cluster and protect the timed entry.

Tokyo Skytree

An east-side view that combines naturally with Asakusa and Sumida.

Shibuya Sky

A west-side rooftop experience with weather and loose-item rules.

teamLab Borderless

A timed immersive art visit in Azabudai Hills with sensory guidance to review.

Asakusa

Temple and street time can stay flexible around a nearby fixed booking.

Tokyo National Museum

Choose a focused route through Ueno collections rather than every gallery.

Neighborhood day

Keep one part of the city open for streets, food and unplanned discoveries.

Compare location as carefully as the ticket

Timed attractions can look close on a city map while requiring long rail and station journeys. Keep the day geographically honest.

01

Build an east-side day

Asakusa and Skytree form a coherent pair.

Start with Sensoji and surrounding streets as the flexible part. Put the Skytree reservation after a realistic river crossing or rail journey.

This leaves room for Nakamise and the Sumida area instead of sending the day across Tokyo between bookings.

02

Let Shibuya Sky anchor the west side

The rooftop can be affected by wind, rain or other conditions.

Review what can be carried onto the roof, where belongings must be stored and what happens if the outdoor area closes.

Build the rest of the day around Shibuya, Harajuku or nearby districts, with the timed entry as the only rigid point.

03

Treat teamLab as a real visit

The venue is not a quick photo stop.

Check date and time admission, dark spaces, mirrored or uneven surfaces, sound and light effects, accessibility and item restrictions for the group.

Keep the surrounding plan in Azabudai, Roppongi or central Tokyo rather than adding Asakusa to the same half-day.

04

Use Ueno for a focused museum day

Displayed works and accessible buildings can change.

Choose a Japanese-art route, archaeology, Asian collections or an architecture walk. General collection admission and special exhibitions can have different arrangements.

Ueno Park and nearby museums make the flexible continuation.

CHECK CURRENT OPTIONS

Compare Tokyo attraction tickets

Search current observation deck, museum and experience options for the district you plan to visit. Check the time slot, ticket scope, QR or redemption instructions and change terms.

A booking checklist that protects the day

Confirm the details that affect entry, timing and the rest of the route.

  • Confirm the venue branch, neighborhood and nearest station exit.
  • Check the date, admission window and decks or exhibitions included.
  • Read rooftop weather, locker, bag and loose-item rules.
  • Review sensory and accessibility guidance for immersive venues.
  • Keep enough rail and walking time between districts.
  • Save the QR code or voucher offline and check third-party redemption instructions.

PLAN YOUR STAY

Choose the rail side of Tokyo that fits your days

Shinjuku or Shibuya suit west-side plans, while Ueno and Asakusa reduce repeated cross-city journeys for east-side days. Check the nearest station, room size and cancellation terms before booking.
